Caddies & tipping in Thailand: what to know

One of the joys of golf in Thailand is the caddie culture. At nearly every course a caddie is included — or required — and a good one reads greens, tracks your ball, and keeps the round moving. If you're visiting, a little know-how goes a long way.
How it works
- A caddie fee is charged per bag, usually separate from the green fee — Weekendpar lists it where we have it.
- Caddies are assigned at the clubhouse; you don't need to arrange one in advance.
- One caddie per player is standard; some courses allow one per two players on quieter days.
Tipping
The caddie fee is not the tip. A customary tip is 300–500 baht for 18 holes, more for an excellent caddie or a tough day. It's cash, handed over at the end of the round. Weekendpar flags the customary tip on course pages so there are no surprises.
