Golf in Bangkok for foreigners: a first-timer's guide

Bangkok is one of the world's great golf cities for visitors: dozens of quality courses within an hour of the centre, caddies at every one, and prices well below what you'd pay in Japan, Korea or Singapore. Here's what a first-time foreign golfer should know.
The essentials
- Green fees: expect ฿1,500–4,000 at most courses; foreigner rates are higher than Thai-resident rates, so bring your passport.
- Caddies are mandatory at nearly every course (~฿400) plus a customary tip — see our caddie guide.
- Carts are usually optional (~฿700–1,000) and worth it in the heat.
- Dress code: collared shirt, no denim; most clubs rent clubs and shoes.
Getting there without a car
Many courses are 30–60 minutes from Sukhumvit; Grab is the easiest door-to-door option, and some clubs run shuttles. If you're short on time, an indoor golf simulator near the BTS (a 'golf sim') lets you play a world course in an hour without leaving the city.
